Norson Construction Ltd. With offices in North Vancouver, Kelowna, and Edmonton, construction sites spread across BC and Alberta, and mobile workforce, this very successful business presented connectivity challenges that were unusual for organization of its type a few years ago but quickly become commonplace today. Norson Construction’s corporate WAN includes VPN links over existing Internet connections: broadband (ADSL and fixed wireless) at the above three offices and telecommuters’, broadband and wireless dial-up to ISP of their choice for construction sites and mobile workforce. Standardizing early on Windows 2000 (presently migrated to Windows Server 2003/2008 and XP) platform for all the servers and workstations, using roaming user profiles, and enforcing strict group policies on the network allowed us to create a very flexible yet extremely stable environment resulting in a low total cost of ownership of the Information Systems.
